BA Psychology, U Minnesota; MA Anthropology, UCLA. I am beginning my dissertation research on motherhood in American culture. I am interested in how women's perceptions of broader cultural ideologies and representations of motherhood influence their thoughts, feelings, expectations and choices relating to motherhood. I am also interested in how the transition to motherhood affects other aspects of a woman's life such as her employment status, her relationship with a partner, her relationships with friends and family members, and her core sense of self.
