Undergraduate Admission
Admission to the Anthropology Major
Students admitted to the University of Minnesota as freshman or transfer students are asked to select a college and possible majors. This is not, however, a formal declaration of the major. To declare a major in Anthropology, students need to fill out a major declaration sheet with the Anthropology Advisor (395 Humphrey Center). One copy of this sheet must be turned in with CLA Social Sciences, located in 575 Heller Hall.
Students admitted to the University in a college other than Liberal Arts will first have to fill out a change of college form, available at the Office of the Registrar or online.
Admission to the University of Minnesota
To be admitted to the University of Minnesota, applicants must complete an application for admission. Please note the deadlines for application. For other questions and concerns, additional information can be found at the University of Minnesota Admissions website.
Admission to the College of Liberal Arts
Admission to the College of Liberal Arts is based on a number of factors such as grade point average, high school rank, and standardized testing scores (SAT or ACT). However, other factors are also considered and can make a difference in admission. Priority admission consideration is given to applicants who indicate a CLA major as their first choice. For transfer students with more than 26 college credits, GPA and choice of coursework are primary admission factors. For more information, please check the CLA Admissions website.
